The Existence of Woman in Education

With regards to the realization of gender equality, the idea that education institutions should give equal opportunities for men and women to study in all subjects without any limitation has raised up among people. In this essay, I will deliver my opinion that I fully agree with gender equality in any aspect of life including education.

First of all, it should have been started from now that people are aware about human rights. Human rights covers, one of them, the right for every people to make a development for their life sustainability and better future. In this case, education takes the first place as a tool for them to improve and develop their skills and knowledge. In patriarchal society, the idea of women who are the number second as a member of society is still set up on the mindset of people in many places, which culminates in having less opportunities in pursuing studies. For example, in many villages in Indonesia, there are still women cannot go to college just because of the belief that they do not need further education since they are going to end up in the house raising up children and kitchen preparing foods. In fact, if the reason for having a task to raise a child is their background to do that, this job is not a simple task to carry out by someone who has limited knowledge and experiences. Conversely, a smart child is born from a smart mother, or in other words, a high-educated figure will educate and result in higher-educated generations. Therefore, if people stay not aware about the right of women to have equal opportunity in education, smart mothers who will give birth to smart children will not be realized.

Secondly, there is no single reason why female students should be restricted in a particular subject. A number of people may think and categorize tasks into gender, based on who is supposed to carry it out, like a pilot can only be taken by a man or baking only can be done by a woman. However, when they are asked why it is supposed to be like that, they end up with no reason. Speaking logically, both men and women can do baking and be a pilot since they are the same human beings. Whereas genetic and physical differences can be a reason for task categorization, it does not mean man cannot do something a woman can and vice versa. So why it should be differentiated while there is no exact reason for doing that?

To sum up, personally, I entirely agree that education institutions should give equal opportunities for male and female students in any subject in terms of human rights in both education and workspace for the sake of each life sustainability and better future
